Pumpkin pie; it's how we roll

We are at the Hart Motel, a first rate joint.

Tim, the owner even taught us how to make Pumpkin Pie from scratch, and boy oh boy do I mean scratch.

Step 1:

Warsh your pumpkin.

Step 2:

Pose for a quick American Gothic Shot

Step 3:

Whack it right in half.

Step 4:

Crack it in half and find a big spoon.

Step 5:

Get in there nice and deep like and scoop out the seeds and guts. (Hint: Save the seeds, they are great salted and baked!)

Step 6:

Cut the meat of the pumpkin up, add some of the rind, add to boiling water.

Add nutmeg, cinnamon and ginger.

Boil until meat is very soft.

Mix with brown sugar and a little flour.

Heat and stir until very thick.

Step 7:

Have your girlfriend make her special recipe crust, and pour your mixture into it.

Voila! Homemade pumpkin pie from scratch.

Day 1: Great Success

Hello all at home and abroad.

Sitting at the McDonald's in Lockport, NY, a little soggy but excited for the day ahead of us.

Yesterday brought us through Ohio, Pennsylvania and Niagra.

Days and trips that start out like this are the best! Look for new stuff from C. Bromley soon!

Ohio, oh how I do not miss things like this.

Pennsylvania, the bit that we went through was nothing to write home about, yet I still am...

Oh well,

We entered New York's Wine country, bypassing the toll road takes you through the vineyards and small towns. Very pretty, however it reminded me of the northern Michigan wine country of Traverse City and Leelanau.

We made it to Niagra, which is a very unique place. A very beautiful natural place, that is nearly ruined by the commercialism of both Canadians and Americans. Nevertheless, it was a very cool experience.

Well there it is, Niagra in the foreground and Horseshoe in the back. Very pretty even at dusk.

Camping last night brought literal gale force winds and light rain. I slept in TNF Denali and let me tell you, I sweat my butt off!

Today we plan on hiking some of the Adirondacks!  Remember these are only travel blogs, so they are going to be short, expect a full trip recap upon our return!

New things my friends

While on the recent Old Baldy trip I got a chance to test out the new Eddie Bauer Shell (the orange one that you see in the post prior to this one). I will be putting an initial review up around the end of the month.

In other exciting news:

Me and my homeboy Timmy are taking a trip to Maine in a few weeks to see what we can see. It should be quite the adventure. Super Bummed that C. Bromley cannot make it though because she is learning how to be an even better photographer. I guess I'll just have to take her later!

And even more exciting news:
I purchased this mack-daddy as a birthday present to yours truly a few days ago. I will be getting it on my birthday! Woohoo!











Still tying flies, working on scud and nymph patterns as I have read they are universal and catch great fish.

Picnic at the Hart Motel

What a week off we had!

It started off with a picnic at the quaint and accommodative Hart Motel. We had a feast of sorts with the owner. He is a great guy who loves to party and have fun. If you are ever in the area, or at the near by Silver Lake Sand Dunes, you should check them out. Tell them Hobbit sent you, he will know what you mean!

We ate well and enjoyed good company.
